Your first year of college is a time of great transition. You may be living on your own for the first time or adjusting to setting your own schedule. You’re probably also trying to adjust to the particular culture and atmosphere of Tech.
First year and transfer students often find themselves wondering when—or if—they should come out and how best to find a welcoming LGBTQIA community.
Along with our partners on campus, the LGBTQIA Resource Center offers a number of resources to help make your first year at Tech a little easier.
Welcome Reception
On the second Monday of Fall semester, we hold our annual LGBTQIA Family Reunion.
This is an opportunity to get to know your queer peers while enjoying free food and drinks.
Student Organization
Pride Alliance, Tech’s oldest LGBTQIA student organization, hosts a variety of events collectively known as Welcome Week at the beginning of Fall semester.
The purpose of these events is to help new (and newly out) students become better acquainted with the community on campus.
Dialogue & Discussion
Q Chats is our bi-weekly group discussion series for students.
These groups are a great opportunity to meet other students and build community.
Trans and Gender Non-conforming
T+ is a group specifically for trans and gender non-conforming students. In addition to their bi-weekly discussion groups, T+ also hosts social events and workshops.
Asexual & Aromantic Students
Ace Space is Georgia Tech's event and meeting series for asexual and aromantic students.
Ace Space also hosts an online Facebook group for questions, community, and resource sharing.
Welcome Event
We table at the FASET Resource Fair and GradExpo where you can pick up some fun swag and event calendars as well as sign up for our newsletter and meet Center staff in person.
