Camilla Brewer is the new Coordinator for the LGBTQIA Resource Center at Georgia Tech. She hails from Oak Park, Illinois, and became a Tar Heel for life after she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies with a minor in Sexuality Studies from UNC- Chapel Hill in May 2014. While at UNC, Camilla was involved with an LGBTQIA conference, a co-ed literary arts fraternity (Delta Psi), and a campus ministry group. Through these experiences, Camilla found her passion for working on college campuses, which is why she pursued and received a Master of Education in Student Personnel Administration in Higher Education from UNC- Greensboro in May 2017. She is passionate about identity development of underrepresented student populations and how to make transitions to higher education more effective and supportive.
Prior to working at Georgia Tech, Camilla has most recently worked with the Gender & LGBTQIA Center and the Danieley Center Neighborhood at Elon University in Elon, North Carolina. Previous to Elon University, Camilla worked within a Dean of Students Office to host programs around sexual violence prevention and support survivors who chose to participate in a university process. She also has experience working with orientation programs at Murray State University.
Outside of work, Camilla’s favorite place is a tie between the Art Institute and the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago, favorite film director is Wes Anderson, and favorite animal is a cat. She enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, and bullet journaling. While the majority of her family still lives in the Midwest, Camilla is excited to make Atlanta her home and explore all that it has to offer!
