PrEP/PEP Facts: Rethinking HIV Prevention and Safer Sex
Wed, December 1
Buckhead Room, Exhibition Hall
Hosted by: National Pan-Hellenic Council & LGBTQIA Resource Center.
PrEP is hardly a “new” HIV prevention method as we approach nearly a decade since PrEP has been in use and approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and World Health Organization endorse PrEP as a necessary tool to ending the HIV epidemic globally. Unfortunately, even as we have seen general accessibility and awareness of PrEP grow, systematic barriers and stigma persists, especially among communities disproportionately impacted by HIV.
Be a part of this fun, interactive workshop to learn about PrEP/PEP, the revolutionary sexual health tools that reduce the risk of acquiring HIV by over 99%. We will discuss what PrEP/PEP is, how it works, and why uptake is low among groups most impacted by the HIV epidemic. This workshop is an opportunity to learn how to make informed sexual health decisions, as well as learn how to challenge HIV misinformation and stigma.
